Sha Tin College Prayer 2008

12:50 am September 24th, 2008

Its been a tradition at SC to start the year off with prayer, joining with other schools around the world (http://www.syatp.com) to commit the year to God, and get past students to join us as well where they are.

This year we’re inviting students past and present to hit the livewire homepage and write their prayers and words of encouragement for the school and next year:

Hope you guys can logon over the next day and week and just cover the school in prayer and blessing to see God really change peoples lives.

Serving

10:54 am June 12th, 2008

You guys made the best clay models we’ve seen this year ;-) Hopefully Kevin should get me pictures soon.

In the mean time, here’s a quick clip of Jesus washing the desciples feet. Its from “The Gospel Of John”, and the acting is actually good for Jesus a film. Jesus is played by the scottish guy of Lost. Which reminds me I’ve still got to catch up with season 4 of Lost. Anyway, you can see how strange it must have seemed, but also to me it showed Jesus as more human and real, and that it was a teaching exercise in which he lead by example.

Love

11:10 pm May 29th, 2008

Love is always patient and kind.
It is never jealous.
Love is never boastful or conceted.
It is never rude or selfish.
It does not take pleasure in other peoples sins,
but delights in the truth.
It is always ready to excuse,
to trust,
to hope,
and to eudure whatever comes.

Friendship

11:06 pm May 29th, 2008

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no-one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15:12-14

Still not too late to finish yours and give it to your person!

Gifts For Others

11:22 am May 19th, 2008

Was great to hear from Dan Tupps youth pastor at HKMBC, on how God has given us all gifts and talents, and how we live the best life when we use our gifts to help others.

And really can use anything to serve God or others. Dave The Horn Guy quit is his job to do this full time after he felt God tell him too. His amazing story lead to him appearing on America’s Got Talent:

But also remember, the very simple things that we can all do to show love for each other are just as amazing:

‘When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:38-40

The Good Samaritan

8:42 pm May 8th, 2008

Luke 10:25-37 is a pretty hard story to follow, but caring no matter what really does make the world a better place. With all the wars, hatred in families, in schools, selfishness in people, things are only going to get better if people start acting first. You really can change the world. Love Wins.

The last week

10:45 pm April 24th, 2008

The last week for year 11s and 13s. Had a good time of prayer this Thursday. We’re always rushed with the 45min lunches we have, but God saw every prayer written down on the cross.

All the help you can get

10:05 am April 18th, 2008

Ok, this Thursday we’re hosting the first annual prayer time for exams. Its open to anybody, no matter what church you go to or if your a regular livewire goer or not. Check out the facebook.

And its going to FUN !!!!!!!!!! Prayer doesn’t have to just be sitting downs, hands together and eyes closed down. We’re going to do wayyyyyyy more than that. You’ll see ;-)

But most of all we’re going to committ our exams to God as he’s the reason we should do anything. And besides I’m sure you could do with all the help you can get.
